It was in January 2003 that I thought of making a film about
Haru Kobayashi, who was said to be the last Goze in Japan. I learned about
Ms. Haru Kobayashi through a TV show and was shocked to discover the struggle
she had faced throughout her life. However, nearing to the end of her story,
I couldn't stop shedding my tears because of how comforting her story made me feel.

" If there is a next life, I wouldn’t mind being an insect. It’d be so nice to have
a pair of bright eyes.” Only people who had lost their sight could truly understand
the weight of those words. This movie was filmed to portray the joy of life of
all people, young and old, through the story of Ms. Haru Kobayashi.
